Erwin Olaf Receives Honorary Medal for Art and Science

Hamiltons congratulates Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf for receiving the honorary medal for Art and Science of the House Order of Orange presented by King Willem-Alexander.

 

Erwin Olaf has been a photographer for over forty years, addressing themes such as ethnicity, sexual diversity and economic inequality with a daring approach to portrayal. His work is shown in exhibitions and museums worldwide and has received many international awards.

 

Olaf has made several portraits of King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and their daughters. In 2013 he designed a new euro coin with the image of the King and took the official state photos in 2018. In addition to his artistry, Olaf is committed to vocational education.
